391,500 seconds...
...of freedom left. Good luck everyone!
I felt smart today as I picked up my books for my MBA classes. I'm a grad student! Weeee!
I didn't have to brave the freshmen on that aisle of the Bookstore! Everyone came, got their books, and left. No milling around trying to figure out if Physical Science comes before or after Physics in the alphabet, whether 100 goes before or after 200, and what "the palette zone" is. Ahhh, to be a grad student. Nice.
P.S. I am doing my senior year, but taking grad classes (MBA this semester) because the MAcc is an integrated grad program.

The Eye of the Tiger
...that's what Anna and I were singing as we were running today. We also sang Chariots of Fire. Anna said we should think of every inspirational thought we had ever heard. This is what we came up with:
Anna: "Never give up, never surrender."
Me: "Winners never quit, quitters never win, but those who never win and never quit are idiots."
Anna: "When a tree falls in the forest..."
We probably got more exercise from laughing than running. Ahh, good times.
So the night before the race we had our pre-game meal--Wendy's burger, fries, chicken nuggets, soda, and ice cream. Ok, so that's probably the worst pre-game meal you could ever eat, but we didn't care. It sounded good. We topped off our preparation by watching a chick flick and going to bed at 1am. I think it was a good idea, especially since registration was at 7:15am. We also found out that you could run a 3k if you wanted to, and that started to sound pretty good to us, just like the Wendy's meal.
We got to registration and they only had lines to register for the 5k and the 10k. It was this huge deal that we were only doing the 3k. Maybe cuz we were the only ones who ran the 3k. We wanted our numbers anyway, so we registered. You've got to have something to put in your journal for all of posterity to see. "See, kids, this was back in my glory days as a runner."
As we were running, I started to feel like an ostrich. Ok, let me explain. You see, in Africa, there are ostriches. They are typically seen out in the middle of nowhere by themsleves. You look around and there's not so much as a twig--just sand as far as the eye can see--and then a lone ostrich out there. Doing what, nobody knows.
So that's why I felt like an ostrich--two racers on a race by themselves. We laughed about it every once in a while when we would pass a group of people and we knew they were wondering whether we were the front of the pack, the tail end, or just lost. By the way we ran, they probably guessed that we were lost.
Anyway, we crossed the finish line by clasping each other's hand and raising it in the air--you've got to celebrate your glory moments in some way. We took a picture and got our free t-shirts. It was awesome! We tied for first place and last, I guess, since we were the only ones running it.
Well, there you have it. I am a runner, because I have a t-shirt from a race. I will wear it proudly when I go play rugby so that I can look cool and people will be fooled into thinking that I am a great athlete.

The date...and other news
Ok, so I know y'all want to know how my "date of the decade" went. Well, we went on a hike, but I was having more fun with my brother than my date--we did a little rockclimbing, played in the creek, and goofed off a lot. I kinda wished I was there with just my bro.
Oh well. The guy was a little too mellow for me...ok, a lot too mellow. Also, ( I know this doesn't matter, but it kinda does) he's short, overweight, and has a big head. I'm sorry, but that just doesn't work for me. And I could totally beat him in an arm wrestle, and y'all know how I feel about that. Well, I'm not positive that I could win him, but I climbed up a rock wall that he didn't even want to attempt to climb.
In other news, I'm running a 5K on Saturday with Anna. Our goal is to finish the race alive. I hope it goes well. The race passes by my house, so if we're tired, we'll stop by for snacks and drinks or something. Maybe watch a movie, then get back in the race. Clay said he would be at the end of the race with his lawn chair and a beer, cheering us on. Hee, hee, he's so funny sometimes.
I got a roommate!!!! Her name is Rachel, and she is awesome!! I think we are going to have a great time together. She is from Singapore, and she's trying to decide between a major in microbiology or international studies. She works at the health center in the MTC, so this place is so close to her work. I am so happy that she's here!
My mom, sister, and her friend are here for education week, so we have a full house. It has been so fun to have family here, and to have some noise in the house. It's weird, though, because I am used to silence, so it freaks me out when I hear noises at night. I have to remind myself that it's just other people.
I saw Mindy Thibodeau yesterday--she stopped by my house as I was leaving for work. She seems to be doing well, and looked HOT. She dyed her hair blonde--I think she should keep it.
That's all my news. I'll tell you about the race if I survive.

Bring it
I totally kicked some serious trash today in rugby. Let's just say that I dodged a tall, athletic, chiseled Tongan and beat him to the goal line. I SCORED!! The dude can run like crazy, but by some miracle he couldn't catch me. I earned a little respect from the other guys after that. I was the only girl this time among a bunch of huge Polynesian guys and 2 white guys. It was awesome. Bring it!!!!

Blind date of the decade
Yup, another one. My brother is setting me up with a guy in his Ward in Logan. Here's what I know about him:
- He likes backpacking
- He works in Provo sometimes
- He has a master's degree
- He's a nurse practitioner
- He's awesome (according to my bro)
- He's 35--ack!
I had previously set my limit at 30, but my brother insists that this guy is worth making an exception for, so I decided to go anyway. It's only 10 years. Age gaps get smaller as you get older, right?
Jen Harms told me that you figure out your age limit like this:
Your age - 7 x 2 (if you are a girl)
Your age/2 + 7 (if you are a guy)
Ok, so (25 - 7) x 2 = 36. I guess he's not too old for me, right?
